Modernization of Usachevsky Market
24.04.2012  ЦАОинформ

On April 4, 2012 the prefect of the Central Administrative District of Moscow Mr Sergei Baidakov inspected the progress of the reconstruction of Usachevsky Market. The market's authority had begun the complex reconstruction of the building and the adjacent territory by his order.

The Usachevsky Market is one of two Moscow's agricultural markets located in the Central Administrative District. Residents of the Khamovniki urban area had long been complaining about numerous pavilions chaotically spread throughout the nearby territory and about illegally parked vehicles that hampered the traffic flow.

The dismantling and evacuation of the pavilions started on March 21, and by the day of inspection was fully completed. The area, previously packed with various stalls, now gives a beautiful view on the new multicolored market's facade. Even if it still remans to lay out a lawn and to install a new asphalt pavement, the perspectives are clearly evident.

According to Mr Baidakov, a parking lot for 260 cars will be constructed in front of the market, which will be also available for local residents to park their vehicles in the night time.

There also will be a recreational zone with convenient benches and a lawn. The capital reconstruction inside the building is going on, not affecting the trade, in two stages.

Now all traders are conсentrated in sectors where the repairs had been finished. New cooling equipment, counters, and comfortable pavilions are mounted not only to please the consumers, but also the sellers, because the attendance of the renewed market has substantially increased.
